This photograph, from the original glass plate negative, depicts the wreck of the Fast Mail, or Old 97, at Stillhouse Trestle outside Danville, Virginia. As the locomotive had overturned in the wreck, and is depicted here righted, the photograph is believed to have been taken several days after the accident. From the original glass plate negative.
