Description
A grant for the development of a half-hour multi-projection slide presentation with narration on the historical role of visual design in Virginia. The project will examine the historical, social, economic, and aesthetic implications of design in the areas of architecture, interior design, landscape architecture, and visual communication. The first showing of the slide program will be at a spring conference of the Virginia Design Assembly which plans to bring together over 250 state and municipal administrators who are key decision makers in public design considerations. The program will also be distributed to communities throughout the state and will be shown over Virginia's five public broadcasting stations. The topic provides an exciting area in which humanists can be involved, although such projects should be monitored carefully to insure that the emphasis of the creative arts does not supercede that of the humanities. |
