Description
Two Union photographers attached to the Army Corps of Engineers pose with a large-format, glass-plate camera near Petersburgs battle lines in 1865. The men were probably photographing maps affixed to the easel set up next to the log wall. The exposed negative plates had to be immediately developed and fixed, likely in the darkroom tent at left. Large printing frames lean against the wall near the doorway of the cabin that housed the men.
