Description
Tudor Place, a grand neoclassical mansion on the crest of Georgetown Heights, was designed by Dr. William Thornton, architect of the first U.S. Capitol, and completed in 1816. The house belonged to Thomas Peter and his wife, Martha Parke Custis Peter, a granddaughter of Martha Washington. The historic estate was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1960.
