Description
In a note written at 5:50 a.m. on April 22, 1862, Confederate general Thomas J. Stonewall Jackson directs General Richard S. Ewell to lead his men to a crossroads north of Gordonsville as soon as the roads will admit of your doing so, since bad weather had been impeding troop movements. Jackson was in the midst of his famous Valley Campaign of 1862 and had sent his note from Conrads Store (now known as Elkton) in the Shenandoah Valley.
