A.Q. Franklin Residence

<p>A dirt road leads up to the wooden, Georgian style farmhouse home of A.Q. Franklin, a Black member of the Virginia House of Delegates during the reconstruction era. Franklin lived in this Charles City County home when he worked as a schoolteacher for the county. Jackson Davis, the Virginia field agent for the General Education Board from 1915 to 1929, took this photograph for a collection documenting Black education in the South.</p>
