Description
This 2014 publication was an outgrowth of the Think Historically, Act Locally program begun by Leondra Burchall, former Director of African American Programs at VFH. Sixteen teachers, administrators, and librarians made two tours, three days each, of African American historic sites across July 2014. The tours visited a total of fourteen diverse historic sites, thirteen of which are described in this book, providing the participants an active educational experience, an opportunity to see the sites up close, and assist the teachers among them with ways to incorporate local history into their curriculum.
