This is the cover for a pamphlet containing the minutes of the nineteenth annual meeting of the Roanoke Missionary Baptist Association, held on May 20, 1884, in Bertie County, North Carolina. The clergyman Charles C. Hodges was appointed to the five-member committee on grievances. The word colored was written in light pencil on the top right of the cover (probably by a librarian or an archivist), indicating that this was an association of African American church leaders.
