Description
An engraving published in the 1851 edition of John Pendleton Kennedys novel Swallow Barn, or A Sojourn in the Old Dominion, depicts a scene in which Bel, one of the main characters, uses a long cord in an attempt to control a marsh hawk she wants to train for falconry.
