A public forum exploring the ethics of in vitro fertilization. A panel composed of an ethicist, a law professor and a specialist in genetics will discuss fundamental questions surrounding the "test tube baby" controversy: What human values are at stake? What are the rights of scientists, infertile women, and the unborn? What does it mean to be a human being, a mother, a child? Extended discussion between audience and panelists will follow the presentations. Because the development of this innovative technology is of widespread national and local interest, directors of the program hope to attract a diverse audience including members of right-to-life organizations, students and faculty from local medical schools, members of the William and Mary community, and the townspeople of Williamsburg.
