Description
Looking closely at the 1940s time period in Central and Eastern Europe, this work crafts two narratives, one local and one global, for the events of the pivotal year 1948 in Palestine. The local story is based on the experience of Arabs, Jews, and British using their letters, diaries, and oral history. The second places 1948 within a global perspective of decolonization, forced migrations, and partitions. Fall 2014
