Description
A modern photograph shows the exterior of Otley Hall in Suffolk, England, a moated manor house built around 1400 by the prominent ancestors of Bartholomew Gosnold, one of the founders of the Virginia Company of London. It is believed that Gosnold may have huddled around the hearth inside this house with John Smith, Edward Maria Wingfield, Christopher Newport, and Richard Hakluyt (the younger) while planning the 1606-1607 voyage to and colonization of Virginia.
