A two day public conference centering around town and country preservation
in contemporary Virginia was held in Fredericksburg. The central issue of the conference was the historic preservation of small towns and cities throughout the state. Humanities scholars in history and American Studies, as well as professional administrators in historic preservation and public officials, delivered the main speeches. In addition to the major presentations, panelists in smaller sessions discussed four major concerns: residential structures, civic structures, industrial structures and open spaces. Two tours, one of town areas and one of county areas, supplemented the discussions. |
