Description
A series of four public forums on the quest for peace in Egypt and Israel focusing
on four topics: The role of the United Nations and the United States in the Middle East Peace Settlement, the Heritage of Egypt, the Heritage of Israel, and the Impact of the Egyptian-Israeli Peace Negotiations. The programs featured speakers from the disciplines of religious studies, history political science, and art history, who were joined by representatives from the Egyptian and Israeli embassies, State Department officials, and a local rabbi. An exhibit on Egyptian and Israeli art was held in conjunction with the series, and each forum was preceded by a dinner featuring foods of the two countries, native music, and slide presentations. An average audience of 181 attended each session and responded enthusiastically to discussions of this timely international issue. |
