<p>The Virginia Folklore Society published four volumes of a scholarly journal, <em>Folklore and Folklife in Virginia,</em> between 1979 and 1988. This is the cover of the first volume, which included articles on seventeenth-century insult culture in Virginia, the history of Black Banjo players, and an analysis of a street call from peanut vendors in Suffolk.</p>
