Description

This highly conjectural illustration depicts Mingo leader Tah-Ga-Jute (here called Logan, as he was known by white people) finding the bodies of his massacred family members. A group of settlers led by a man named Daniel Greathouse murdered Tah-Ga-Jute’s family, including his pregnant sister, in April of 1774. Tah-Ga-Jute in response led a series of deadly raids against white settlements along the western frontier.
