Description

A meeting of Virginia delegates in Williamsburg from August 1-6, 1774, resulted in this association to restrict trade between Virginia and Great Britain. Williamsburg printer Clementina Rind printed it as a broadside, and the resolutions were also published in the Rind and Purdie and Dixon editions of the August 11, 1774, Virginia Gazette. The delegates of the First Continental Congress found this association to be so effective they used it as the basis for their association adopted later that year, on October 20th.
