Description
<p>John Forbes was a Scottish born general in the British army during the Seven Year’s War. In the spring of 1758 Forbes launched a successful campaign to capture Fort Duquesne at the Forks of the Ohio. After retaking the fort, he named it “Fort Pitt” after William Pitt, Earl of Chatham, then leader of the House of Commons.</p>
