Description

A partially constructed forty-six-foot long Patawomeck longhouse stands amid fall foliage at Widewater State Park. In 2019 park staff, tribal members, and volunteers built a reconstruction of a pre-contact Patawomeck village, to be an immersive educational experience for park visitors. Widewater State Park is located on the ancestral land of the Patawomeck, across Acquia Creek from what is known to have been a major Patawomeck village.
