<p>A grenadier of the Queen’s Rangers, dressed in a green uniform with a black cap, stands poised with his musket in a position for bayonet fighting. The Queen’s Rangers were a loyalist regiment of the British army during the American Revolution. John Graves Simcoe, commander of the Rangers from 1777 to the close of the American Revolution, emphasized warfare with the bayonet, keeping rank-and-file soldier’s muskets unloaded to ensure that they would use them. This is one of a series of three prints, copied from drawings done in 1780 by a captain of the Queen’s Rangers.</p>
