Description

This map of East Ghent, split into north and south regions, resides in the papers of Lawrence M. Cox, the executive director of the Norfolk Redevelopment and Housing Authority from 1941 to 1969. The map shows how heavily populated the neighborhood was in 1965, before being entirely razed in the 1970s. The main difference between East Ghent and West Ghent was its occupants' race, with East Ghent being almost entirely Black.
