Description
This map of Virginia, created by the Bureau of the Census in 1970, is entitled "Virginia; Independent Cities; County Subdivisions—Magisterial Districts and Places." The line symbols indicate the difference between a county, a minor civil division, an incorporated or unincorporated place, and a place in which fewer than 2,500 inhabitants live. The map also gives population information, as the mapmakers used different fonts to indicate population size.
