Description
Synopsis:
James Monroe is one of the most understudied, underrated presidents in American history. Today there is a Virginia consortium dedicated to remedying that condition. “The Papers of James Monroe” is a joint project largely funded by the NEH to publish a catalog of the letters to and from the nation’s fifth president. Mary Washington College historic preservation professor John Pearce and Dan Preston, the editor of the Monroe Papers at William and Mary, discuss Monroe’s presidency and legacy.
