This embossed black cloth cover of Memorial Addresses on the Life and Character of John S. Barbour (1893) is designed to look like a gravestone. The ninety-three-page book, published by order of Congress in 1893, contains tributes to Senator John S. Barbour delivered on the floor of the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives on February 3 and 25, 1893. Barbour died on May 14, 1892, while in office.
