Description
Part one of the program entitled Every One of Us was held at the Harrison Small Library at the University of Virginia on November 30, 2017. This master class and workshop for students aimed to help them develop skills and sensitivities in promoting civil dialogue among their peers, explore racial justice and equity issues, and be inspired to lead change in their schools and communities. Ruby Sales was introduced by UVA faculty member Corinne Fields, and she spoke with Black Student Alliance President Wes Gobar. This program was made possible by a Flash Funding Grant through the University of Virginia's Executive Vice President & Provost. The funding was awarded to projects that work toward “Achieving the Culture and Environment We Value,” with a special emphasis on creative ideas for programming and initiatives that uproot the conscious and unconscious biases and misbeliefs that lead to racial tension.
