Description
In a world decimated by violence, literature which provides vicarious experience is quite a positive force that promises to broaden people's awareness of others and their values. Such an awareness usually helps college students to appreciate and respect cultural diversity in a world that is increasingly growing multicultural in population. Internationalized literature can help students gain an understanding of other cultures and learn to appreciate the effects of social issues and forces that impact and shape the lives of others. It is the desire of this project to stimulate and develop such understanding and appreciation in all students through study and research in meaningful and nuanced study and teaching of carefully selected international and multicultural literatures that can arguably contribute to world peace through a reduction in violence at home and violence abroad.
