Description
This January 1851 insurance document issued by the Mutual Assurance Society sets the value of a Richmond building located on Franklin Street, along with an adjacent unused structure, at $4,000. Miles George owned the building but rented it to R. H. Dickisnon & Co., a slave trading business. The small diagram, at bottom right, describes the premises as an auction store & lumber house with brick walls and a wooden roof.
