A published "Guide to Materials" on the culture of Afro-Americans in the
Manuscripts Department of the University of Virginia Library . The collection
contains over 400 separate holdings and is one of the most significant in the
country. Stanley Engerman will write the Introduction. 500 copies will be
printed and marketed.
The guide is an attractive and useful tool for both scholars and local
organizations, providing easy access to the University's extensive manuscript
holdings in the field of Afro-American history.
