Francis Preston Blair, an influential nineteenth-century journalist and advisor to U.S. presidents Andrew Jackson and Abraham Lincoln, is the subject of this glass-plate photographic portrait taken in the 1870s. Blair was either approaching or in his eighties when this image was made.
