Description
"Remembering the Civil War: Reunion and the Limits of Reconciliation" is the 13th volume in the Littlefield History of the Civil War Era, published by the University of North Carolina Press. It studies the origins, challenges to, and impact of Civil War memory between 1865 and the present. Through original research and a synthesis of previous work, it integrates the rich new social history of memory (particularly works on African American and women's history) with the more traditional political and organizational narrative of Reconstruction, the Lost Cause, and Reconciliation.
