Description
The cover of J. L. M. Currys Civil History of the Government of the Confederate States with Some Personal Reminiscences (1901) displays a shortened version of the books title. The seal of the Confederate States with its motto Deo Vindice(God will prove us right) is also included on the cover. The official Confederate seal has been modified, however—George Washington, usually at the center, has been replaced by a Confederate general, probably Robert E. Lee.
