Description
Three afternoon forums on aging featuring lectures followed by discussion. A professor of fine arts spoke on "Aging as Depicted in the Visual Arts;" a scholar in religious studies discussed "Contrasting Attitudes of Eastern and Western Cultures Toward Aging;" and a philosopher addressed the topic "Bio-Ethical Issues with the Dying." The program was generally successful, although a Foundation evaluator noted that the audience was largely composed of students at Virginia State University where the series was held. The project director reported that the collaboration between the mental hospital and the university has led to the initiation of a course in gerontology at the university.
