Description
A one-day seminar to examine various aspects of pre-Civil War African-American history and culture in the Shenandoah Valley. The diverse histories of slaves and free blacks will be considered. The event is co-sponsored by a university, a museum/foundation, and a local historical society. Program includes ten Virginia historians.
