The African-American Experience in the Valley of Virginia, 1730-1860

Funds to support research into the history of the African-American experience in the Shenandoah Valley, as a first step toward including this history within the Museum's larger interpretive framework. Several distinguished historians will serve as advisors, and two public forums, one before and one immediately following the research period, will help to engage local interest and support.
