Description
An official ballot from Chesterfield County lists the candidates running for office in the general election on November 3, 1942. Carter Glass, the incumbent Democrat, won the election with over 91 percent of the votes cast. His Socialist opponent, Lawrence S. Wilkes, won 6.5 percent of the vote, and the Communist candidate, Alice Burke, won less than 3 percent of the total vote. Democrat Dave E. Satterfield Jr. ran unopposed in the election for a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives from the Third Congressional District in Virginia.
